Tasmania's renowned World Heritage Wilderness at your doorstep, a warm and relaxing Lodge, the state's best food and beverages and someone special to share it with – what more could you want for a rejuvenating two night getaway to a stunning place quite like no other?

Thousand Lakes Lodge sits atop the island state's highland plateau, wrapped in World Heritage Wilderness and, would you believe, one or two lakes?

It feels like another world, seemingly barren but with beauty all around in the buttongrass plains, in the cider gums and in the wildlife. The air is crisp and clear with a silence broken by the lilting call of the Black Currawongs and trickling of the streams.

There are days when the air is still and the sun warming, sparkling on the water, and there are days when the wind is high and the temperature low when you feel nature at its most dominating. Thankfully on those days the Lodge is there to protect and comfort you whilst you gaze out in awe.

As dusk falls, the native wildlife starts its own party – wallabies, possums and quolls join the iconic Tasmanian Devil in their hunt for food.

By day exploring on foot, on an e-bike or in 4WD will reveal the birds, wombats and other wildlife calling the highlands home, With a fly rod in hand, you could take even on a Tasmanian wild brown trout, renowned for their cunning and fighting prowess.

Built as an Antarctic training base at Lake Augusta in 1980, the Lodge was left to the elements in 1999 but In 2016 the building and its environment caught the imagination Australian racing legend, Marcos Ambrose. It's sure to catch yours too, as a roaring fire casts dancing shadows on the vaulted ceiling, the warmth being matched by a wee sip or two of Tasmanian spirits whilst you curl up on the couch.

So enter below and you could be heading far, far away from life's busyness, making the most of time to reconnect with nature in a place so special, it's been designated World Heritage Wilderness.
